Prayer of the Week

Good morning!!! It's New Year's Eve! Already eh? Well praise God, He brought us this far. How many of you have had New Year's resolutions before? How many of you have actually done the things you said you would do? How many of you had resolutions about your walk with God? Prayer of the week: This week I ask for you to pray first to recognize thing you need to work on or change or depart from, things that are hindering you from getting closer to God. Then after Prayerfully consider this year's resolutions. Pray that this year you will actually see to it that your resolutions are put to action. Pray to have resolutions related to your walk with God! " Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17 Stay Blessed<3

Faith worth more than Gold!

In the restaurant I work in we have a lot of things we do that reflect the Ethiopian Culture, well of course it should after all it’s an Ethiopian restaurant! One of the things we have is the Ethiopian coffee ceremony. Sounds interesting eh, well it is. I am not going to talk about coffee so you can relax now! When people order a coffee ceremony it has things it comes with. We serve coffee ( well duuhhhh Rodas it’s a coffee ceremony) , popcorn (I promise its actually served with popcorn even in Ethiopia) and incense (particularly frankincense, and it smells amazing.. you do know it was one of the gifts the wise men took to Jesus when He was born right?). For the incense to be served we first need to burn charcoal and put it on a special thing we call “etan machesha” (it’s something u burn the incense on, I don’t know if there is an English term for it that is why I brought in my Amharic for assistance :D). What I noticed after setting up this coffee ceremony plenty times is the fac

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: Your direction is up

"One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3  When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4  Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5  So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. 6  Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7  Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8  He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9  When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10  they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at t

Challenge of the Week

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!! Today we Celebrate the Birthday of our Savior and King, Jesus Christ! :) Aren't you glad He was born when He was? :) Happy Birthday my King! :)  Have you ever heard people say they give because it is better than receiving? Honestly though, have you ever gotten a satisfaction out of just helping the needy? Challenge of the week:  This week I challenge you to give, not just giving your money or spare cloth, but give your time, your attention and your love to all who need it. I challenge you this Christmas to focus on Christ by being like Him in character, by Giving, Helping and blessing others. "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27 "John answered, "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same." Luke 3:11 Stay B

Prayer of the Week

Morning everyone :) I know its not morning here (it is actually 2:54 pm) but am sure somewhere in the world it is morning :) How is the Christmas Season treating you??? Praise God am as Joyful as Ever!!! We stand on the day before Christmas yet another year, because of His unending grace we are to see the new year! Year after year we promise our selves, this year i will pick up my bible and read it more often, this year i will start going to church, this year i will start serving in the church...how many of us actually did these things we had promised before the beginning of 2012? Now, 2012 is almost over! Are we going to make the same promises we made last year and not abide to it like last year? Prayer of the week: As Christmas and New year are around the corner (today is Christmas eve so Christmas isn't that far :) ) let us pray about being more committed to our relationship with Christ, let us pray to be more faithful in our walk with God! Let us pray for more spiritual r

Sermon by Jezntezen Franklin : Chain Reaction

"24  When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25  About midnight  Paul and Silas  were praying and singing hymns  to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.   26  Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken.  At once all the prison doors flew open,  and everyone’s chains came loose."Acts 16:24-26 "If it will start with you it won't end with you, God will keep the blessings flowing" Chain Reaction is defined as the reaction you need to have when something is coming to bind you, it is Praise and Worship!!! Challenge of the Week

Hello everyone! How are you guys doing this beautiful Tuesday? I am doing well Praise God! Have you ever been in a place where you know in your heart that you should thank God despite the fact that the situations don't look as pleasant as you want them to? Or have you been in a place where everything seems perfect and you feel like you got there because you worked hard and not because God helped you get there so you refuse to give praise? Or your situation is so bad you don't even feel like giving Him the praise He deserves? Challenge of the week: This week I challenge you to worship Him, to Praise Him despite the situation you are in, despite what the devil and the world scream at you give thanks! For He is a God that is not limited by any situation, He is a God who has no boundaries, He is all Mighty!!!! So this week Just CHOOSE TO GIVE HIM PRAISE NO MATTER WHAT! "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."

Change!!!

Have you ever met a person who is so hooked on to their routine based life? A person who lacks a bit of spontaneity? Lol, well if you haven’t before, nice to meet you my name is Rodas. I am a person who likes, let me just say loves to describe the intensity of the matter, a plane old routine based life.  The reason I like a routine life or a consistent life style is because I can almost anticipate everything that I will be doing and that is something I am comfortable with. The opposite of that is change! Man!! I am not a big fan of change.  Guess who knows that I don’t like change, my one and only father in Heaven. God knows unless He brings life changes in my direction I would not go out to look for it. Praise the Lord because He knows what I need more than I do. Whenever I think change, specifically life style change, I think of Paul the apostle. Paul in order to explain who he was before encountering Christ said, 3  “I am a Jew,   born in Tarsus   of Cilicia,   but brought

Challenge of the Week

Hello :) Happy Tuesday everyone :) How have you guys been? I hope all has been going great for you! I hope everyday you are waking up to the Joy of the Lord in your hearts :) Have you ever been in a position where you are sure that something worked out to your benefit not because you did it right but purely because of God's favor? Challenge of the Week: This week I Challenge you to proudly Proclaim the Lord's favor in your life. This week I challenge you to give the Credit to Him who deserves it all. You don't need to proclaim it to just people who know God, share it even with people who don't know God. Because somethings just don't have logical explanations and all you can say is He is able!!! "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8 Stay Blessed<3

Prayer of the Week

My God is great! He has been pulling me through the last couple of weeks like no other time before. I am seeing His mercy and grace everyday! The relationship we have with God can sometimes be strained, sometimes pressure of work other times time constraints might be the cause. But the relationship we have with God is not the same like other human relationships. God doesn't stop loving you because you have less time for Him this week than last. He doesn't stop protecting and caring and providing even if you don't get time to thank Him. Prayer of the week: let us pray this week to recognize that God is always with us despite how less of a time we have put to prayer or our quiet times. We can still see His grace and mercy in the little things He does if we just learn to stop for a second and look around. Let us pray this week to always be thankful to our Father for His unfailing Love! " 1 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever. 2

Video of the Week: The Rising

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: The Secret of Walking With God

"But those who hope  in the  Lord      will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;      they will run and not grow weary,      they will walk and not be faint."Isaiah 40:31 "Get the sand out of your spiritual shoes" 1) It is important to walk with God (its not just a Sunday thing God wants, He wants a relationship) 2) Satan hates when you walk with God 3) Jesus never intended for you to wash your own feet ( Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest: Matthew 11:28 ) Stay Blessed<3

Challenge of the Week

Hello :) Happy Tuesday everyone :) Praise God for all His works, He has been nothing but Great to me! I never knew I loved sleep until I started University. I always thought I didn't need to sleep that much and I would still be OK  Hahahah,University has thought me the value of sleep :) If sleep should be valued, much how much more should we value our time with our heavenly father? I have had nights that I fell asleep on my knees, or even nights I would be mumbling prayers as I fall asleep. From this day forth time I am taking a stand, time with my Father is much more valuable than my sleep! Challenge of the week: This week I challenge both you and I to still have our time with God even if we are super sleepy. It doesn't have to be an hour long devotional, but that quality time with our father in heaven is needed. He will be our strength, He will be our inspiration and motivation. so this week I challenge you to seek His face even when your flesh opposes and seeks sleep.

Prayer of the Week

I know I have pulled a disappearing act, I am so sorry things have been crazy busy on my end. Though I was busy my heart was longing to Proclaim my Lord's Grace on my blog! :) God has been so faithful, and He continues to carry me through!! This past couple of days have been overwhelmingly busy. At first the world got to me and i was a bit stressed out, I lied, I was stressed out not a bit but completely stressed out! But then I stopped everything took a walk and in that walk i spoke to my father in heaven by the time I got home He had already done what i was going home to pray for, He granted me complete peace! Praise God!! Prayer of the week: This week I ask that you pray for your selves to know to pray when you are overwhelmed by things of the world, when your burden is heavy and when you feel there isn't a way out.  Remember with God nothing is impossible, He is the God who parted the read sea when the Egyptians thought the Israelites had no where to go! "Then J

Challenge of the Week

Hello :) Happy Tuesday :) :) Apparently its my Joy is starting to show on my face that people say.."I was going to tell you, you look happy" Praise God eh!!! This week and a bit of last week I was reading/Listening to Psalm 103, What I recognized was that despite how great God has been in our lives our flesh would force us to think of our situation and  instead of giving praise we dwell on our current state. Challenge of the week: this week I challenge you to keep reminding your soul to worship God! to continue reminding your soul of all the good He has done. I challenge you to let your spirit rule over your flesh!! 1 Praise the  Lord ,  my soul;      all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2  2 Praise the  Lord ,  my soul,      and forget not  all his benefits— 3  3 who forgives all your sins      and heals  all your diseases, 4  4 who redeems your life  from the pit      and crowns you with love and compassion, 5  5 who satisfies  your desires wi

Prayer of the Week!

Hello :) Happy Monday :) Never thought I would be one of those people that is excited about everyday, especially Monday :) But the Joy of the Lord Changes everything!!! So my everyday is a joyful and happy day :D This time of year is so busy and stressful especially for students. I am supposed to be (according to the norms of school lol ) stressed to the core, but am not! Praise God am not! Prayer of the Week: This week pray that you seek God's face so much and you recognize all the blessings in your life that the current storm or trail feels like a joke. Pray that everyday you wake up you will be filled with the joy of the Lord! Also that you just remember He has got you!!! He will never fail you!! "Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified  because of them, for the  Lord  your God goes with you;  he will never leave you  nor forsake  you.”  Deuteronomy  31:6 Stay Blessed<3

Drowning in Vs. Pouring out

People have different views when it comes to alcohol. For some, it’s almost like a ‘pain-killer’ for others it’s just something they consume when in a social setting. Now, my focus today is on the people who use alcohol as a pain-killer. The basic numbing impact of alcohol is what people use as means of killing pain. But, when you are sober again after a night of ‘no-pain’ guess what comes? The pain that you avoided yesterday plus a hangover!!!  Drinking to the point that we forget our current state is not killing pain but drowning in a sea of alcohol! However, there is another way out!! I don’t know how many of you know this but I am a crier. I cry to let out stress or cry to my father in heaven when things don’t seem to be working out! In my walk with God these past couple of years God has been teaching me the worth of tears. “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” Psalm 56:8 . Knowin

Sermon by Creflo Dollar: Change your way of thinking

Hey guys :) sorry for the late post! So today we have 3 parts for the sermon both of which are on the blog but for the first one I put down a link. It is an amazing message so let it bless you! btw each part is about 10 minutes long so its about the same length as the weekly sermons. "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. "Galatians 5:16 Part 1 http://youtu.be/iTsKUK25f9k Part 2 Part 3   Walking in the spirit is a way of thinking that lines up with God's word whereas; walking in the flesh is a way of thinking that opposes word of God When you walk in the spirit :-  You get results Blessings will fill your life You receive Life     When you walk in the flesh :- No profit, it's not just working The curse, a curse with no cause comes Death: separation from God! Your prayers won't work! Stay Blessed<3

Challenge of the Week!

Hello :) How is everyone doing? I am as Joyful as ever Praise God!!! He has been so good to me!!! Before I used to think that when I made major decisions in my life, I was the only  person I had to consult. However, I made sure I Prayed about it, but what I did then was basically telling God I made my decision hope you agree! Praise God! I now see that is a very wrong approach! As Christians we should be looking to Our Father in Heaven for Guidance and His will to be known to us. Challenge of the week: I challenge you to wait on the Lord more this week. Recognize that His good and perfect will is far better than what we think is good for us. This week I challenge you to prayerfully consider each and every step you take, submit all of your will to Him! And let His will govern your lives :) "For I know the plans  I have for you,” declares the  Lord , “plans to prosper  you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 Stay Blessed<3

Prayer of the Week!

Hello everyone :) Sorry am a little late in the day for the post, but prayer is not limited to anytime of day right so its all good :) Praise God today, I saw His works, I saw Him making a way where there was not! Just the same way He parted the Red sea for the Israelites to pass, He parted my clogged and jammed paths for me to pass and Praise God for that! That is my testimony of the day!! Prayer of the Week: Why have just one testimony that we keep repeating when sharing Christ, why not have testimonies everyday??? That would then require new dimensions of faith everyday!! Let our prayer focus be to experience God everyday so as to have testimonies everyday!! That would generate stronger faith! Also, we will know we are not standing still in our faith, instead we will be walking in faith!! Amen for walking in faith!!! "but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be f

What next?

I remember the feeling I felt when I graduated from high school. I felt like I accomplished something I have been working on my whole life prior to that event. Now, am standing at a similar cross road where I am expected to make some of the most important decisions that will defiantly affect my future! No pressure eh! I know that once am sure of what I am going to do the next step would be walking forward with faith.  For I know if I am in the perfect will of He who created me all will be well. Peter is one of the disciples of Jesus Christ. He has experienced the Lord’s miracles in his own life. The night the disciples saw Jesus walking on water most of them thought it was a ghost and they were terrified. Then Jesus said, “ Take courage!  It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Matthew 14: 27 ; when you continue to read on what Peter says it’s actually amazing.   “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.   “Come,”   Jesus said . Matthew 14:28-29 Do you s

Video of the Week:Love Comes Down

"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:51 Love came down in Form of Flesh, Jesus Christ! Stay Blessed<3

Challenge of the Week!

Good afternoon :) God is as amazing as ever eh :) :) If you are anything like me, simple things that you hold dear to your heart mean much more than anything you can buy! These gifts for me rank from a warm smile all the way to doing something nice for me when i needed it the most :) Challenge of the week: First recognize those things that are simple but heartwarming to you. Once you do, make an effort to bless others with the same blessing you have received. You never know how much that person needed to be encouraged or hugged or prayed for at that moment until you do it and see the transformation in their mood! So I challenge you to let your lights shine! "  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16 Stay Blessed <3

Prayer of the Week!

Good morning :) How were your weekends? Praise God mine was more productive than last weekend :) Joy is often confused with happiness, though they compliment each other one is different from the other. Happiness is dependent on the state we are in; where as Joy comes from the Lord, and since He is always the same, consistent in His love, Joy is independent of our emotional state. Then being Joyful will lead to rejoicing! "Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, gladden yourselves in Him]; again I say, Rejoice!" Philippians 4:4 Prayer of the week: Let us pray that we are joyful in the Lord always! Let us recognize that happiness is an emotional high that goes and comes but the Joy of the Lord is Here to stay! Let us pray that we get to see God and always be filled with His Joy no matter the situation we face. Stay Blessed<3

Compassion!

These past couple of days I have been filled with compassion towards people who have lost loved ones.  “ Compassion   is the   virtue   of empathy for the   suffering   of others. It is regarded as a fundamental part of human   love , and a cornerstone of greater social interconnection and   humanism   —foundational to the highest   principles   in philosophy, society, and   personhood .” ~ Wikipedia God is Love! The love He has towards us He has displayed in so many ways. God first showed His compassion towards the human race by sending His only son to die for us; “For God so loved   the world that he gave   his one and only Son,   that whoever believes   in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16 . God in flesh, Jesus Christ, continued to show compassion towards us.   He especially had compassion towards people who had lost their loved ones. In many occasions, as recorded in the Holy Bible, Jesus had wept out of compassion. “ 33  When Jesus saw her weeping, and t
