Faith worth more than Gold!

In the restaurant I work in we have a lot of things we do that reflect the Ethiopian Culture, well of course it should after all it’s an Ethiopian restaurant! One of the things we have is the Ethiopian coffee ceremony. Sounds interesting eh, well it is. I am not going to talk about coffee so you can relax now! When people order a coffee ceremony it has things it comes with. We serve coffee ( well duuhhhh Rodas it’s a coffee ceremony) , popcorn (I promise its actually served with popcorn even in Ethiopia) and incense (particularly frankincense, and it smells amazing.. you do know it was one of the gifts the wise men took to Jesus when He was born right?). For the incense to be served we first need to burn charcoal and put it on a special thing we call “etan machesha” (it’s something u burn the incense on, I don’t know if there is an English term for it that is why I brought in my Amharic for assistance :D). What I noticed after setting up this coffee ceremony plenty times is the fact that the longer the charcoal stayed in the fire the stronger the aroma of the frankincense!
There is a verse in 1 Peter that very much goes with the theory of the charcoal. These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” 1 Peter 1:7. Have you ever felt like you have been in the heat for too long, or that your trials have been coming at you one after the other and they seem to be giving you no break what so ever ???? Been there done that, but what I didn’t know before was that my trials were for my own good, it was/is to strengthen my faith. It is to make me a stronger person/Christian! Do you now see that for the frankincense to have a stronger effect the charcoal must burn longer? The longer our trails the sweeter our walk with God, the stronger our faith! So today I encourage you to stay strong and Praise God always. Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,” James 1:2
Note:
  • Your faith is worth more than gold, so how much more does it need to be purified ?!
  • Don’t be discouraged, in fact be encouraged that when trails come our way they are for our own benefit

Stay Blessed<3

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: Spirit of Python: Teaching Angels to Worship

When you are going to hell/trails and you worship is when you can teach the Angels to Worship :) 1) God is Spirit : the Spirit is looking for people who will worship Him in truth and In spirit. *In Truth: the right truth (Jesus : see John 14:6) * In Spirit: even during trails we need to be in the spirit of Joy, Faith, Hope and Love "God is spirit,  and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 2) God can make something out of nothing : before God spoke the world into motion it was nothing. He took what was nothing made it into something. He also hung it on nothing, there is nothing that holds the universe in place! “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?      Tell me, if you understand." Job 38:4 How and when can we teach worship to the Angels? Angels Vs. Us Angels 1) Angels have never been nor will they ever be under the course of sin 2) They live in a perfect place (Heaven) 3) The fir...

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: The Power of Doing More than Expected

Even Jesus went a little farther...He did more than expected! Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39 1) Jacob was working for his unfair father-in-law...and still did more than expected   Genesis 29 Jacob was tricked by his father-in-law Laban. But he never sinned against Laban and he always did more than what was expected from him! 2) Who did Jacob learn it from..doing more than expected? From his mother Rebekah "17  The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.” 18  “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink. 19  After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” 20  So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the we...

Just Jaded!

I hope you and your loved ones are safe in these crazy times. If any tragedy has come to your home, I pray God's peace and love envelops you right where you are. I pray that you rely on His unending love, mercy, grace, and strength in this time of hardship... I am, like most people, feeling very jaded. I have experienced more highs and lows in such intense frequencies now than any other time I can remember. I believe this is why the Lord has me sharing this... I had planned to write about loving people and what it looks like in different seasons. However, I felt a nudge that I should be sharing about the hope I have despite feeling jaded. To make sure we are on the same page about what I mean when I say jaded, here are two definitions from Merriam Webster's dictionary:  1: fatigued by overwork: EXHAUSTED  2: made dull, apathetic, or cynical by experience or by having or seeing too much of something I can identify with both definitions. In this season, I fin...
