This last May I moved to a new place and the unpacking took
longer than it should have. Well, it was partially my fault, the other half of
the blame goes to my shoe rack. “Excuses excuses!” as my housemate would say
it. I promise I have a point coming just hold on.
I have this frame of a cross that has faith written below
it. The first time I put it up by putting tacks on the back of it since my wall
didn’t have any holes and I had no intention of creating any. It lasted about
an hour and it fell flat on its face. Then I thought let me get something strong
to hold it. I don’t know how I didn’t think of this all along but now I had the
solution! I was going to use a pin J
I felt so pleased with my idea even before I checked if it would actually work.
So I put it up again using the pin. Well, at least this time it lasted longer
before it fell flat on its shiny surface L
but, did I give up noooooo!! So again I tried it with two pins and this time it
actually worked. But there was another thing going wrong, the more I tried to
make stable the more it got loose. So I just stopped hammering the pin since it
gave it an unpleasant bend.
Faith (walk of a Christian with God) is not something that
can be achieved overnight nor will it be easy. When pursuing God you will face
challenges, you will just need to learn the art of forgetting that these two
words exist, ‘giving up’. As you can read from my endless effort of trying to
hang my frame, even when you are looking
to do the right thing it might not work, things might not happen the way you
plan them to. The fact that the frame fell each time I tried to put it up on my
wall is not because it didn’t belong on my wall it was because despite the fact
that I had all the right and good intentions I wasn’t approaching it the right
way. Have you noticed the more I tried the better I got at challenging my
problem? God puts it in 1Peter 1:7 as “These
have come so that the proven genuineness of
your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by
fire —may result in praise, glory
and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”
Going through trails will only
increase your faith and prove how genuine you are about your walk with your
Lord! And God has promised that no matter how bad the trials seem they will
never be beyond what we can handle, 1 Corinthians 10: 13 “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man.
And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.
But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand
up under it.”
And another thing God wouldn’t
want us to be while in trail is anxious! Yes anxiety is a natural response for
most of us (for me crying then anxiety come very naturally). God is so faithful
and trust worthy but knowing His creations more than we know ourselves He
prepared His word as a reminder. In Philippians 4:6-7 He says “6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.”
Notes:
·
Trials
are for our own good, they are there to work out our faith (like exercising
your muscles to get them stronger)
·
God says we can never be tempted more than
what we can handle, so whatever you are going through God knows you are
stronger than it!
·
During such times it is important to keep calm
and regain our peace through His word and being prayerful is also key J
Stay Blessed <3
