Sermon by Jentezen Franklin : The Spirit of Python : Prayer and Praise

Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty , life and freedom!




 1) Spirit of divination : Spirit of python , divination means python in Greek

"And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:" Acts 16 :16

2)  Lucifer had 5 evil thoughts

"You said in your heart,
    “I will ascend to the heavens;
I will raise my throne
    above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,    on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon." Isaiah 14:13

3) The devil wants to get the anointing out of our churches and replace it with intellect..mere knowledge (of God) not a deep relationship (with God)

"My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, " 1 Corinthians 2:4

4) The spirit of python wants to choke the life/breath (The Holy Spirit) out of you

 "And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit." John 20:22

5) Few things the spirit of python doesn't like..he wouldn't want you to use these tools
  • Prayer : is exhaling (spiritually speaking) what you inhaled by reading the word of God ( "About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them" Acts 16:25)
  • Praise : is bringing glory to God no matter the situation ( "Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose." Acts 16:26)
  • Fasting : is very important in one's walk with God ("He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer." Mark 9 :29)
  • The Blood of Jesus : the Blood of Jesus covers us...pretty much makes us off limit for any schemes of the devil ("They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death." Revelations 12 :11 )

Similarly when you love God all the sacrifices you make are nothing..if you truly love Him that is! God will Fly Faster than you will fall..Then He will catch you! Qualities of an Eagle..we should have these things as Christians 1) An Eagle has Great Vision: It is easy to get lost without a vision 2)  An Eagle feasts only on Living things: We are alive in Christ, we do not need the dead things of our past 3) An Eagle is Faithful : We should be faithful in our relationship with our mates, friends, families and most of all in our relationship with God! When Does an Eagle Soar to the sky with its eyes set on the sun? 1) When a storm is approaching The Eagle sets its eyes on the heaven above as a storm approaches. We need to set our Gaze on Christ when storms come our way. "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."
