Lesson 4: Be careful what you pray for because you will get it!

 November 7, 2013

Few days ago I asked God (in prayer) to humble me, I even had a facebook status about it. I had #humblemeLord on it too :) God is humorous. Today, I wasn't able to catch a taxi (if you don't have a car and you feel you don't want to deal with the crowd in city buses or higer buses you take taxis.)
The only available means of transportation was a higer bus so I hopped on it, my aunt was very hesitant but I told her it was okay. I couldn't find a seat so I stood holding on tight to the handrails to avoid falling flat on my face.  My mind kept saying this situation was unfit for me..that I needed a different means of transportation. However, my heart reminded me of the request I had made few days back, I needed to be humbled by God. I learned a huge life lesson. Could it be for our own sake that God tells us to be humble or to have sober judgment of who we are?

"For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you." Romans 12:3

"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Ephesians 4:2

What I noticed that day was an amazing reality that I would have missed had I been on a taxi. It was interesting to me that as I found communities with less material riches to be more sincere communities. Communities bound by love, compassion and empathy. Here is where my lesson of the night started; a guy I had never seen in my life offered to carry my staff as I scrambled through my purse for change to pay the bus fair. Few minutes later an elderly gentle man offered me his seat, he told me he was getting off soon. I thanked him and his response was even more amazing; he said, " it's okay! It's not like I did anything!" Whatttt!!!????!!! Of course he did...he gave up his seat!!!  The thing is this man stood for another 10 minutes before he got off. It didn't stop there, I heard an elderly lady ask a younger lady how she was doing and if she was okay standing. Another random act of kindness from a stranger. Lastly, I heard a lady thanking a guy for carrying her purse. He carried her purse because he had a seat and she didn't! I was truly inspired and refreshed by the time I reached my destination.

Dare I say groups of people who genuinely care for one another are most likely to be found in places that are lowly? May be God wants us to see the realest form of care and compassion as we humble ourselves? Could that be one of the reasons we are instructed to be humble? Christ was born in a filthy surrounding, the lowliest of places. Shouldn't that be a huge lesson on its own? Let me leave you with these questions and I pray you grow through the answers you get!

Btw here is what a higer bus looks like :) If you didn't know already :)

oh and here is a taxi :) If you didn't know already :)

Stay Blessed<3

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: Spirit of Python: Teaching Angels to Worship

When you are going to hell/trails and you worship is when you can teach the Angels to Worship :) 1) God is Spirit : the Spirit is looking for people who will worship Him in truth and In spirit. *In Truth: the right truth (Jesus : see John 14:6) * In Spirit: even during trails we need to be in the spirit of Joy, Faith, Hope and Love "God is spirit,  and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 2) God can make something out of nothing : before God spoke the world into motion it was nothing. He took what was nothing made it into something. He also hung it on nothing, there is nothing that holds the universe in place! “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?      Tell me, if you understand." Job 38:4 How and when can we teach worship to the Angels? Angels Vs. Us Angels 1) Angels have never been nor will they ever be under the course of sin 2) They live in a perfect place (Heaven) 3) The fir...

He is a Better Planner!

I did not mean to take the whole summer off from blogging it just so happen to be that way. Partly due to the numerous things that were changing in my life but more so due to lack of better planning/ time blocking. One of the highlights of my summer was becoming a Mrs. I never knew the weight the pre-fix would carry until I heard someone address me as such. I don't know about you but the Amharic word is, even more, weightier, "ወይዘሮ/weyizero"!. That was one of my life updates. Now that I said that, let's get to the meat and potatoes of my post... I have said before that I am a recovering perfectionist. Today, I stand before you confirming that statement still rings true in my life. I confess, somedays, I face some battles as if I had never before and get frustrated because I haven't gotten perfect at not being a perfectionist! You see the irony...   Tracing back where my want/need to be perfectionist came from, I was surprised to find out that it was linked to ...
