Mere Acquaintances

“Knowledge of a person acquired by a relationship less intimate than friendship” Wiki definition of Acquaintance

We are going to make comparisons between deep and heartfelt relationships with God Vs. Just acquaintances

·   1)  Old acquaintances don’t have the same value as new friends. Even if you have known of God for the longest time your relationship with Him is not as intimate as a person who just got to know and experience Him personally (21 Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” Matthew 7:21-23)
·    2)  I read somewhere that acquaintances are people you know well enough to borrow from but not well enough to lend to. When we are just acquaintances with God, we run to Him when we need something from Him. Not that He needs anything from us, but when it comes to just spending time with Him we back out. When it’s our turn to give Him time, to be in His presence we back out. People who are in a deep and meaningful relationship with their father in heaven long to be in His presence. (As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” Psalms 42: 1-2 )
·    3)  Only when you are close friends with a person do you know the things that person likes or dislikes. Who that person really is. How that person would react to certain situations. When you are in a meaningful relationship with God, you know the things He hates (sin). You know the things He likes. You know who He is from His word (the bible).  (Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” 1 John 4:20 “Whoever says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.” 1 John 2:4 )
·    4)  We hate it when people get close to us just so they can use us. We dislike it when our relationships are shallow and meaningless.  So does God! That is why He calls us to a deeper relationship with Him! That is why the things of the kingdom are to be sought for! That is why His mysteries are not obvious to everyone. Those who truly seek Him will find Him! (You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 “No, we declare God's wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.” 1 Corinthians 2:7 )

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: Spirit of Python: Teaching Angels to Worship

When you are going to hell/trails and you worship is when you can teach the Angels to Worship :) 1) God is Spirit : the Spirit is looking for people who will worship Him in truth and In spirit. *In Truth: the right truth (Jesus : see John 14:6) * In Spirit: even during trails we need to be in the spirit of Joy, Faith, Hope and Love "God is spirit,  and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 2) God can make something out of nothing : before God spoke the world into motion it was nothing. He took what was nothing made it into something. He also hung it on nothing, there is nothing that holds the universe in place! “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?      Tell me, if you understand." Job 38:4 How and when can we teach worship to the Angels? Angels Vs. Us Angels 1) Angels have never been nor will they ever be under the course of sin 2) They live in a perfect place (Heaven) 3) The fir...

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: The Power of Doing More than Expected

Even Jesus went a little farther...He did more than expected! Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39 1) Jacob was working for his unfair father-in-law...and still did more than expected   Genesis 29 Jacob was tricked by his father-in-law Laban. But he never sinned against Laban and he always did more than what was expected from him! 2) Who did Jacob learn it from..doing more than expected? From his mother Rebekah "17  The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.” 18  “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink. 19  After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” 20  So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the we...

Just Jaded!

I hope you and your loved ones are safe in these crazy times. If any tragedy has come to your home, I pray God's peace and love envelops you right where you are. I pray that you rely on His unending love, mercy, grace, and strength in this time of hardship... I am, like most people, feeling very jaded. I have experienced more highs and lows in such intense frequencies now than any other time I can remember. I believe this is why the Lord has me sharing this... I had planned to write about loving people and what it looks like in different seasons. However, I felt a nudge that I should be sharing about the hope I have despite feeling jaded. To make sure we are on the same page about what I mean when I say jaded, here are two definitions from Merriam Webster's dictionary:  1: fatigued by overwork: EXHAUSTED  2: made dull, apathetic, or cynical by experience or by having or seeing too much of something I can identify with both definitions. In this season, I fin...
