Pray, Pray Always!

Dear Friends,

I hope the Christmas Season has brought you Joy, Peace, and New Hope! However, if instead, it is a season of remembering and missing a loved one that is no longer with you, I hope it brought comfort! I hope in this season you are reminded of God's unending goodness. Most importantly, His promise of life everlasting, eternal life with him!

I am always encouraged but also intimidated when I read/hear the verse "Pray without ceasing" 1 Thessalonians 5: 17. I don't know if you have experienced times in your life when all the prayer you have is "God Please Help!" or "Thank You God!" or just sitting in His presence quietly. I was recently and still getting out of a season like that. In this time of drought, I saw a post on Instagram made by Kalley and Andrew Heiligenthal regarding their baby girl who passed away unexpectedly. The family asked for the Global Church (Capital C church, that is all of us!) to join them in intercession prayers/worship for the resurrection of their daughter. I so felt the need to join in this prayer chain. So, I did! Side note, if you have questions about resurrection, see this video that Pastor Bill Johnson from Bethel Church put out: Video

During this time in joining this family, their home church, and the Global Church, in time of prayer and intercession, I found my personal prayer life being reignited. I found myself praying in the wee hours of the night. I found myself praying for Olive every chance I got. Almost a week into this prayer and intercession, the family along with Bethel Church announced that they will be hosting a Memorial and Celebration of Life for Olive. Though we did not see the miracle on this side of eternity, I know that Olive is Alive and Well in the arms of Jesus! The Miracle lots of people, including myself, received is one I did not anticipate. In contending for Olive's life, I found myself awake in the spirit again. I found myself hungering for a time of prayer and intercession. I saw myself staying up late/ praying in the middle of the might/ on my drive to work and back/ in the washroom. I was praying without ceasing!!!!

Here is my take away from his whole thing: When you can't pray for yourself about yourself, start praying for others! The key is not what you say during prayer but who you say it to! The ability to have open heavens anytime we choose to pray is such a huge deal! Having the Holy Spirit within us is another miracle! As new testament believers, I urge us to remember that and never take the fact that we can talk to God anytime / any place for granted.

So when you don't feel like praying...Pray! When you don't have words pray, listen! Remember prayer is a two-way conversation between you and the creator of this universe! :) Yup, let that truth sink in! :)

My deep desire as we start a new year is that I grow in my prayer life. That my conversations with my heavenly father would be deeper and more frequent. That prayer would never again be a religious checkmark but my yearning to spend quality time with my God.

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." 1 John 5:14

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful." Colossians 4:2

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: Refuse to Pretend

Be a Contender not a Pretender!  1) The time Jacob labored to get Rachel was nothing to him because of how much he loved her. Similarly when you love God all the sacrifices you make are nothing..if you truly love Him that is! "So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her." Genesis 29:20 Rachel is his first Love..She is representation of Jesus and His Love where as Leah is the  substitute ..not the real one. Rachel is the one where as Leah is the second option..not the best! Leah is Religion where as Rachel is Relationship with Christ Leah is Survival where as Rachel is Revival 2) Do not be Pretenders but Contenders "Dear friends,  although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share,  I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend  for the faith  that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people."Jude 1:3 Do not be like people who come t...

Video of the Week : Holding on to You

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23  Teach me until I am broken no more, feed me until am hungry no more! I am Holding on to You!! Today I encourage you to hold on to Him, the Faithful one who won't let go of you even if you let go of Him! Hold on to the one who has you in His hands, to the one who numbered every stand of hair and all of your days!! I have seen His miracles in times of my storm by just choosing to Hold on to Him!!! When the Music Stops...

Hey Friends, I am trying to honour my commitment to make at least one blog post a month, so here goes July. That being said, please know that I am not posting for the sake of posting. I am trying to cultivate an active listening skill when it comes to each topic I share i.e. I will not post until I am convinced I heard from my heavenly daddy. I hope this is one speaks to you. :)   When the Music Stops... This marks the first time I talk about my hubby-to-be on this blog. This man is a Gem! He is a true worshipper, a man after God's heart. He also happens to be an anointed worship leader :) I am not saying that because I love him, I promise. The reason I bring him up though is because one of the very many conversations we have had about music is a good illustration to the point I will make later in this post. He mentioned that  it is common practice amongst some parents to hide their kids' musical instruments closer to exam seasons in the hopes of helping them focus...
