Even Jesus went a little farther...He did more than expected!
Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39
1) Jacob was working for his unfair father-in-law...and still did more than expected
Genesis 29
Jacob was tricked by his father-in-law Laban. But he never sinned against Laban and he always did more than what was expected from him!
2) Who did Jacob learn it from..doing more than expected? From his mother Rebekah
"17 The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.”
18 “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink.
19 After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” 20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels." Genesis 24:17-20
It is excepted to give water to a person who asks you but its more than expected when you provide water for the person's animals too!
3) Who did Jacob pass down this amazing act of obedience? .. to his son Joseph
"20 Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison, 21 the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. 22 So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. 23 The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did." Genesis 39:20-23
Joseph didn't do anything and yet was thrown in jail under a false accusation. He didn't become bitter instead he did everything that needed to get done and God blessed him and people around him favored him. He did more than what was expected from him!
