May We Never Lose Our Wonder...

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to my Canadian Freinds and Happy Early Thanksgiving to my American Friends! Today, though very physically tired, I feel like rejoicing and jumping around like a little kid. I think it is very important to allow ourselves to be like little children, especially when it comes to things of faith. In the spirit of being joyful, I would like to start my post with things I am thankful for!

I thank God for:
- Being such a loving father to me. He is One who does not seem to get tired of waiting on me to understand that "He's got this!"
- For surrounding me with loving people!
- That I get to start a new chapter of my life, with the love of my life, my man!
- Being such the mastermind behind the beauty we see everywhere!

My list is surely longer but I think you get the idea! Thanksgiving and praise are two strong weapons against the enemy. The art of practicing Praise and Thanksgiving not only transform and guard your minds, hearts, and emotions but are also keys to unlocking a brand new perspective/outlook/lense through which you view life.

I think this message, pretty much every post I make on this blog, is related to something the Lord is teaching me personally. If you know me, you know that this topic is very relevant to me as I am a very busy individual. My life/days/weeks swing back and forth from extremely busy/exhausted/calendar full from 7am - 11pm weekdays to the I am too tired to do anything/sleep half-day/low activity weekends. As you can tell, this is not a very sustainable way of living. Nor does it give me the time or stillness to be intentionally observing what God has placed around me. Knowing this about myself, I am learning to be more realistic in planning out the wake hours of my day. I am also learning that sleep is very important, DUH! I share this with you because I am sure there are so many like me that pack their schedules as if the World would cease to exist if we take a break. Guess what though? The reality is that God is here and He is bigger than our big days! He is more than capable to do exceedingly far beyond what we think we could accomplish on our own!

Part of my learning is to make Time of Rest (Sabbath/Selah) a form of worship - See Isaiah 30:15. I am being reminded that I can truly relinquish the bit of control I think I have to the able hands of my father. Because in my weakness He is strong; in my inability He is able!

It is when you take time to rest that you get to see the beauty and wonder around you. Do you see how beautiful these images are? These are real places in this world. These are so carefully and beautifully crafted by God. Look at these images intently... give it a few minutes...are you not in awe? I pray that we don't become too busy and miss the clues right in front of our eyes. I pray we do not lose the awe and wonder in life. I pray that the hustle and bustle of life do not make us dull and cold.

Let me leave you with a challenge: Take even 30 seconds a day (longer if you can) to notice, admire, and thank God for 1 thing around you. You will be amazed to find that you are surrounded by so much beauty. That realization will bring you to your knees! You will be filled with so much joy you can't explain! You will see that God almighty, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, cares enough to make this world beautiful for you and me! Enjoy the work of His hands!

"3 When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
5 You have made them a little lower than the angel
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!: Psalms 8: 3 - 9

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: Refuse to Pretend

Be a Contender not a Pretender!  1) The time Jacob labored to get Rachel was nothing to him because of how much he loved her. Similarly when you love God all the sacrifices you make are nothing..if you truly love Him that is! "So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her." Genesis 29:20 Rachel is his first Love..She is representation of Jesus and His Love where as Leah is the  substitute ..not the real one. Rachel is the one where as Leah is the second option..not the best! Leah is Religion where as Rachel is Relationship with Christ Leah is Survival where as Rachel is Revival 2) Do not be Pretenders but Contenders "Dear friends,  although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share,  I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend  for the faith  that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people."Jude 1:3 Do not be like people who come t...

Video of the Week : Holding on to You

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:23  Teach me until I am broken no more, feed me until am hungry no more! I am Holding on to You!! Today I encourage you to hold on to Him, the Faithful one who won't let go of you even if you let go of Him! Hold on to the one who has you in His hands, to the one who numbered every stand of hair and all of your days!! I have seen His miracles in times of my storm by just choosing to Hold on to Him!!! When the Music Stops...

Hey Friends, I am trying to honour my commitment to make at least one blog post a month, so here goes July. That being said, please know that I am not posting for the sake of posting. I am trying to cultivate an active listening skill when it comes to each topic I share i.e. I will not post until I am convinced I heard from my heavenly daddy. I hope this is one speaks to you. :)   When the Music Stops... This marks the first time I talk about my hubby-to-be on this blog. This man is a Gem! He is a true worshipper, a man after God's heart. He also happens to be an anointed worship leader :) I am not saying that because I love him, I promise. The reason I bring him up though is because one of the very many conversations we have had about music is a good illustration to the point I will make later in this post. He mentioned that  it is common practice amongst some parents to hide their kids' musical instruments closer to exam seasons in the hopes of helping them focus...
