The Power of Music!!!

Hey peeps! I hope y'all have been well. This sermon really spoke to me and I hope it speaks to you too. I will also share with you why it got to me.

If you knew me in high school one of the first things you would notice was that music and dance were my heart beats! I could be having a conversation that is a matter of life and death and a single beat or the first few words of a song would completely distract me. In short I WAS a zealous worshiper of the world!

I remember in my first year of University, now feels like billion years ago, when I decided to do a week long fast from music..I thought I was going to die! I am not being dramatic (Though I can be :D), it was a real concern. But, by the end of the week I not only found that I could live without secular music, I also started to develop a taste for Christian music.

Fast forward 5 years, God has completely set me free from that attachment to secular music! Now, I not only listen to Christian songs at church, but I jam to it, I dance to it, I walk to it, ...

The thing I love about Christian songs is that they speak life and align you to God's word. Anyways, enough about me! Watch this sermon! Ask God what He wants to teach you through it!

I pray you approach this topic with a heart that is willing to learn and grow from it.

Here are my notes from watching the sermon :)

What information are you allowing to become a part of you? WHAT SONGS ARE ATTACHING THEMSELVES TO YOU?  the God that lives in you, what are you forcing Him to listen to

3 things we should know about music

1) music has power
2) music is a gift
3) the music we listen to determines who we serve

Music is the soundtrack of your life

Most music that is attached to our life experiences has spiritual influence attached to them

3 things we should know about songs

1) melody - Affects your emotions . Any song that controls your emotion has power over you
2) rhythm - the starts to affect your will,  your action,  your behavior.  Any song that influences your will to act or behave a certain way has power over you
3) lyrics - they affect your mind
We allow our musical icons to minister to us.  Any song that makes you think a certain  way has power over you

3 things about worship we should know

1) worship is a lifestyle
2) we praise God because of what He's done; we worship God because of who He is
3)Worship Is not for us. It's for God

If you lead a lifestyle of worship and come to church and praise without an instrument

Mark 12:30

If you want to know what lies ahead ask somebody who is on his way back

Exodus 20:3
Do you love the gift or the gift giver??

Music used to be my idol!

Stay Blessed <3

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: Spirit of Python: Teaching Angels to Worship

When you are going to hell/trails and you worship is when you can teach the Angels to Worship :) 1) God is Spirit : the Spirit is looking for people who will worship Him in truth and In spirit. *In Truth: the right truth (Jesus : see John 14:6) * In Spirit: even during trails we need to be in the spirit of Joy, Faith, Hope and Love "God is spirit,  and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 2) God can make something out of nothing : before God spoke the world into motion it was nothing. He took what was nothing made it into something. He also hung it on nothing, there is nothing that holds the universe in place! “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?      Tell me, if you understand." Job 38:4 How and when can we teach worship to the Angels? Angels Vs. Us Angels 1) Angels have never been nor will they ever be under the course of sin 2) They live in a perfect place (Heaven) 3) The fir...

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: The Power of Doing More than Expected

Even Jesus went a little farther...He did more than expected! Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39 1) Jacob was working for his unfair father-in-law...and still did more than expected   Genesis 29 Jacob was tricked by his father-in-law Laban. But he never sinned against Laban and he always did more than what was expected from him! 2) Who did Jacob learn it from..doing more than expected? From his mother Rebekah "17  The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.” 18  “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink. 19  After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” 20  So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the we...

Just Jaded!

I hope you and your loved ones are safe in these crazy times. If any tragedy has come to your home, I pray God's peace and love envelops you right where you are. I pray that you rely on His unending love, mercy, grace, and strength in this time of hardship... I am, like most people, feeling very jaded. I have experienced more highs and lows in such intense frequencies now than any other time I can remember. I believe this is why the Lord has me sharing this... I had planned to write about loving people and what it looks like in different seasons. However, I felt a nudge that I should be sharing about the hope I have despite feeling jaded. To make sure we are on the same page about what I mean when I say jaded, here are two definitions from Merriam Webster's dictionary:  1: fatigued by overwork: EXHAUSTED  2: made dull, apathetic, or cynical by experience or by having or seeing too much of something I can identify with both definitions. In this season, I fin...
