Grounded for a Week!

I remember that week as if it was last week. I got grounded for the first time! It was beginning of August of 2009. My parents came to me one day and said that I was not allowed to leave the house. Mind you it was the last week in Ethiopia. You see I was heading to Canada in a weeks time. I thought to spend each and every single day by being productive. Or so I thought! I had planned to meet at least 3 people a day in order to have a proper good bye with my closest friends. My parents were firm! I cried..they stood their ground! I cried even more...it was still a no! They told me that they would provide refreshments for my friends if they came to my house to say goodbye instead of me going out. I was not too pleased but I thought it was better than nothing. And so that week passed and I came to Canada. Till this day I do not understand why my parents did what they did..may be I will never understand it..but I know they had great intentions at heart!

Sometimes in our walks with God we have those weeks/months/years when we get grounded. He tells us no..you should not have this..or no do not go there! We react like how my teenage me reacted...we try to convince Him..we cry...we shout..we scream..He stands His ground! You see sometimes, actually all the time, He sees things we can not see. He protects us from unseen things. It sounds cliche when I say this...but it is true..EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON!

"Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses." Ecclesiastes 3:1

One thing I want you to learn from this is that God grounds you not as punishment but as means of protecting you from yourself and plans you have for yourself! He is a loving father. It pains Him to see you hurting, He can not stand it! May be next time you find yourself grounded...ask what He is protecting you from instead of trying to convince Him otherwise! May be next time He tells you to stay put ask Him what He has in store for you where you are...I BET IT IS BIGGER THAN WHAT YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR YOURSELF!!!

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

One other thing..Have peace and hope! You have been given the right to be His Son/Daughter! You are a Prince/Princess!!!

"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;" Romans 5:1-3

Stay Blessed<3

Sermon by Jentezen Franklin: Spirit of Python: Teaching Angels to Worship

When you are going to hell/trails and you worship is when you can teach the Angels to Worship :) 1) God is Spirit : the Spirit is looking for people who will worship Him in truth and In spirit. *In Truth: the right truth (Jesus : see John 14:6) * In Spirit: even during trails we need to be in the spirit of Joy, Faith, Hope and Love "God is spirit,  and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 2) God can make something out of nothing : before God spoke the world into motion it was nothing. He took what was nothing made it into something. He also hung it on nothing, there is nothing that holds the universe in place! “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?      Tell me, if you understand." Job 38:4 How and when can we teach worship to the Angels? Angels Vs. Us Angels 1) Angels have never been nor will they ever be under the course of sin 2) They live in a perfect place (Heaven) 3) The fir...

He is a Better Planner!

I did not mean to take the whole summer off from blogging it just so happen to be that way. Partly due to the numerous things that were changing in my life but more so due to lack of better planning/ time blocking. One of the highlights of my summer was becoming a Mrs. I never knew the weight the pre-fix would carry until I heard someone address me as such. I don't know about you but the Amharic word is, even more, weightier, "ወይዘሮ/weyizero"!. That was one of my life updates. Now that I said that, let's get to the meat and potatoes of my post... I have said before that I am a recovering perfectionist. Today, I stand before you confirming that statement still rings true in my life. I confess, somedays, I face some battles as if I had never before and get frustrated because I haven't gotten perfect at not being a perfectionist! You see the irony...   Tracing back where my want/need to be perfectionist came from, I was surprised to find out that it was linked to ...
