It’s different but really the SAME!

After almost a decade, my siblings and our parents are in the same country at the same time. In times like these, you find yourself enjoying even the silliest of arguments between siblings. I especially love hearing my auntie’s iteration of some of our childhood memories. Being home has also allowed me look at all the things God has done for my family and I. I have not written about my full testimony on this blog but I felt to share a portion of it in this post as it is relevant to what I will talk about. Here goes… I was born in to a Christian household to my amazing parents. Though I was Christian, I can now say I didn’t have a personal relationship with the Lord until after I moved to Canada. I went through a season of questioning if I really knew the Lord. To be honest, I had tried to read the bible before then but I really needed to dig in. God, in His amazing mercy and grace, surrounded me with people that knew and loved Him.   After finishing my first year in Universi...

When the Music Stops...

Hey Friends, I am trying to honour my commitment to make at least one blog post a month, so here goes July. That being said, please know that I am not posting for the sake of posting. I am trying to cultivate an active listening skill when it comes to each topic I share i.e. I will not post until I am convinced I heard from my heavenly daddy. I hope this is one speaks to you. :)   When the Music Stops... This marks the first time I talk about my hubby-to-be on this blog. This man is a Gem! He is a true worshipper, a man after God's heart. He also happens to be an anointed worship leader :) I am not saying that because I love him, I promise. The reason I bring him up though is because one of the very many conversations we have had about music is a good illustration to the point I will make later in this post. He mentioned that  it is common practice amongst some parents to hide their kids' musical instruments closer to exam seasons in the hopes of helping them focus...

It was not about the perfume...

Hello Hello :)  I don't know about you but I can't believe that it is already June! However, I can't help but thank God for His constant and consistent faithfulness as seasons change... or sometimes remain the same! It won't make sense if you think of that in literal terms :)  If you know me you know that I love me some, not some lots of perfume. I go through perfume and body splash like crazy. I also get asked if I bathe myself in perfume multiple times a month if not a week. I don't know what to tell you, I really really like smelling good and also I am terrified of BO! (Insert Wide -Eyed Emoji). Don't jump into conclusions...I do love water too...I do SHOWER :)  Now, I have read about the lady who was referred to as "a woman of the city, who was a sinner" in Luke 7 . The reason I know about her is because she brought an alabaster flask/bottle of ointment (with a beautiful smell, might be equated to a modern day oil based perfume) and u...

Sarah Laughed ...

Hey Friends, I hope this month has been treating you well. A little thing I found out is that we just passed the month of Aviv/Nisan in the Jewish calendar which would have been March-April in the Gregorian calendar. This month is referred to as "Month of Happiness" as it is typically 30 days of spring. Most of my reading about this was done on Wikipedia so please do correct me if I am wrong. However, there is a mention of this month in Exodus 13:4 . All to say, I hope your month and a bit was a happy one. :) The title of this posting today is "Sarah Laughed". Have you ever wondered how Sarah must have felt when she heard the Lord, in Genesis 18, say that she would have a baby next year. It is easy to be quick to judge her when you read that statement. How come she didn't believe the lord? Oh Sarah of little faith... But walk in her shoes for a second. In Genesis 18:11-12 it says she laughed to herself because both her and her husband were very ol...

The Freedom in Acceptance!

Hey friends, I hope you have been keeping well. I write emails all day long and that is exactly how I usually start, but don't worry this is not an email! However, I do hope you have been keeping well. :) I want to share with you something that I hope will help you in your Journey with the Lord. I am by no means an expert nor have I arrived but I feel like my struggles and learnings could be helpful to you in your own walks.  I have had the Lord point out to me or remind me that I am not Him multiple times, especially in the last two years. I think for me in my deep desire to honour Him in all that I do, I subconsciously start believing that I am immune to a lot of things. I was convinced that because I love Him so much there is no way I could pick sin over Him. I am sad to report that despite the love I have for Him, I have fallen short numerous times. I think Paul describes this dilemma perfectly in Romans 7:15 . He is so boggled with how he could act a certain way w...

His Name, A Mighty Fortress!

Fortress! I have sang about it, heard it being thrown around as part of the church lingo, and also used it myself numerous times. It is so easy to fall into the trap of saying things for the sake of speaking "Chrstianese" or fitting in a church crowd. The real danger lays in not understanding the depth and underlying power that exists in knowing what words like this mean.  Naturally, though I should have looked to my concordance and bible dictionary, I did a quick google search because I am the "microwave pop corn" generation. Don't worry if you don't understand lol its an inside joke between one of my favorite preachers and I. So lets get to it... Fortress -  a military stronghold, especially a strongly fortified town. Also means a person or thing not susceptible to outside influence or disturbance - copy pasted from Wikipedia  What are we saying when we say His Name, A Mighty Fortress? By making use of the second definition we are literar...
